SAVE THE DATE FOR THE DRIVE FOR THE DOC 2024

TUESDAY EVENING 12 NOVEMBER TO SATURDAY NIGHT 16 NOVEMBER !!

Canberra to Bright

Do you own a 4WD?  Or does a friend?  Or, could you hire a 4WD?  Have you ever wanted to explore your own backyard?  Then Drive 4x4 The Doc is for you!

Drive 4x4 The Doc is a great 4 day/5 night adventure that does not require any specific 4WD driving skills.  The event is ideally suited to couples, and even if you have never driven a 4WD outside of the metropolitan area before – this is the weekend for you.

The “Drive 4x4 The Doc” is a 4-wheel drive event designed to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Participation in the event is a reward for raising $1,000 per participant (or more) for the RFDS.

The 2023 Drive 4x4 The Doc route is:

  • Tuesday 12th November 2024 - meet & greet dinner & drinks at East Hotel Kingston ACT

  • Wednesday 13th November 2024 - East Hotel Kingston ACT

  • Thursday 14th November 2024 - Wagga RSL Motel NSW

  • Friday & Saturday 15th & 16th November 2024 - Hara House Bright Victoria

Accommodation:  We have pre-booked accommodation for participants, and details will be released when we finalise the costings and create the Entry Forms.

All participants in the Drive 4x4 The Doc will be required to be double vaccinated or hold an acceptable medical exemption.  Proof of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be produced to the organisers and must be carried with you on the event - you might be required to show proof of vaccination or exemption to gain access to accommodation, restaurants, venues etc.

The objectives of the Drive 4x4 The Doc are simple:

  • Have fun

  • Visit parts of Australia we might not normally travel to

  • Have a positive financial and social impact on the areas we visit, and

  • Raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

The Drive 4x4 The Doc does not require any previous 4WD driving experience or skills and is ideally suited to couples.  Even if you have never driven a 4WD outside of the metropolitan area before – this is the weekend for you.  The event will be conducted mainly over dirt roads and highways (perhaps the occasional fire trail) and will not require any advanced driving techniques.

Please note: If you are looking for a weekend where you winch your 4WD across flooded creeks or rivers, or rappel yourselves down rocky ravines – this IS NOT the event for you.  There should be no need to pack any 4WD recovery gear; instead we suggest you should pack a couple of deck chairs and a wine cooler.

All your meals on the event are provided, and each night we have pre-booked accommodation on your behalf, at your cost.

All participants, including passengers, must be eligible to hold a full (i.e. non-provisional) drivers license recognised in Australia.

This is not a “full on” 4WD trip, and most types of 4WD cars will be suitable.  Potentially many AWD cars, such as the Ford Territory and Toyota Kluger, will be suitable also.  Ground clearance and suitability for dirt road driving are the primary concerns when deciding if a vehicle is appropriate for the event.  The smaller AWD and SUVs are not recommended, but if in doubt, please ring me.

To register for the Drive 4x4 The Doc, participants are required to either post or email the following form to the event organiser, together with your cheques (or credit card authorisation) for the relevant entry & disbursements fees.

There are three separate payments to participate in the event, and both the Entry Fee & Disbursements Fee are payable to Outback Car Trek Pty Limited:

  • Entry Fee - $175 per person.

The entry fee includes GST.  The fee is calculated on a cost recovery basis and is designed to cover the costs of setting up and administering the event.

  • Disbursements Fee - $XXX TBA per person.

The disbursements fee includes GST and is also calculated on a cost recovery basis.  This fee pays for all meals on the event, your public liability insurance, any tours and national parks fees where required, and much more.

  • Donation – a minimum of $1,000 per person.  This payment is to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The donation is not subject to GST.  All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

As well as your accommodation, you will be required to pay your own out of pocket expenses, such as fuel, personal items, souvenirs, drinks with meals, etc.

If you require further clarification on any matter, please ring me on 0418 626 799 or by email on billp@outbackcartrek.com.au.
