About The Vehicles

What Type of Driving to Expect

This is not a hardcore 4WD adventure — it’s a relaxed country drive designed for novice to intermediate four‑wheel‑drivers. The event uses a comfortable mix of highways, dirt roads, and well‑maintained fire trails, making it suitable for most standard 4WD vehicles.

The key considerations are:

  • Good ground clearance

  • Confidence on dirt roads

  • A reliable 4WD system

You won’t need recovery gear, winches, traction boards, or advanced off‑road skills.
In fact, we recommend leaving all of that at home and instead packing something much more useful: a picnic blanket and a hamper.

Vehicle Suitability

Most full‑size 4WDs are perfectly suitable for the event.
Many larger AWD vehicles — such as the Ford Territory or Toyota Kluger (AWD models only) — may also be appropriate.

Smaller AWDs and compact SUVs are generally not recommended, as they may lack the clearance needed for some sections of the route.

If you’re unsure whether your vehicle is suitable, it’s best to check.
